(Persia Digest) – Statistics show that 11.6 percent more Azeris traveled to Iran in the first four months of this year as compared to a similar period last year.
The Republic of Azerbaijan has seen a 1.1 percent increase in the travels of its citizens abroad as compare to last year to reach 289 thousand people.
During the said period, 31.3 percent of Azeris have traveled to Georgia, 27.7 percent to Iran, 21.9 percent to Russia, 12.2 percent to Turkey, 1.7 percent to Ukraine, 1.4 percent to the UAE, and 3.8 percent to other countries.
In the first four months of the present year, 16.1 percent fewer Azeris traveled to Turkey, 3.6 percent fewer to Georgia, and 1.1 fewer percent to Russia as compared to a similar period last year.
In 2018, 11.3 percent of people traveling to Azerbaijan were from Iran, showing a drop of 5.4 percent as compared to last year.
The Azeris are one of the main groups of tourists traveling to Iran, making up about 21 percent of all tourists entering Iran in the first nine months of 2017, taking second place after Iraq.
