(Persia Digest) - Mahmud Bahmani, CEO of the CBI in Ahmadinejad’s cabinet has denied Zarrab’s comments that they met at the time.
In an interview with ISNA New Agency, the former CBI Chief stated that he never met the Iranian-Turkish businessman, Reza Zarrab, and added: “I don’t believe Mr Ahmadinejad met him either.”
Bahmani, currently an MP, has denied knowing anything about an audio file that Zarrab has claimed he has, and said: “I want to highlight that I never met with Reza Zarrab. Even so, holding meetings is my job. The CBI Chief can hold meetings worldwide, but it is important to know what decisions are taken. Zarrab’s only claim is that we met to avoid sanctions. I did not violate the sanctions, I managed them and I am proud of it.”
As reported by Persia Digest, the Iranian-Turkish businessman, Reza Zarrab, had earlier confessed in a New York court that he had helped Iran avoid sanctions and bribed Turkish officials.
Zarrab had also testified meeting the then CEO of CBI (Mahmoud Bahmani) and former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
