(Persia Digest) - "Beyond the Clouds", directed by Majid Majidi, premiered at the London Film Festival in October 2018. After eight months, eventually the Persian dubbed version will be released tomorrow, 16 May, in Iranian cinemas.
"Beyond the Clouds", the first film of this director outside of Iran, had earlier been scheduled to be released in Iran in the fall of last year, but now after several months and its screening at the Fadjr Film Festival, it is scheduled to be released tomorrow, first in Mashhad and then across Iran.
The opening ceremony of the dubbed version of the movie is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Atlas Cineplex in Mashhad with the presence of Majid Majidi.
"Beyond the Clouds," Majidi says, is the sequel to the film "Children of Heaven", the story of the same sister and brother who have grown up and their concerns have changed in the busy city of Mumbai.
"Beyond the Clouds" follows my cinematic beliefs, rooted in human values, love, friendship and family relationships,” he said on the premiere of his new film.
The cast of the film are Ishaan Khatter and Malavika Mohanan. The film was made in India with an Indian cast and crew. It was distributed by Nourtaban Studio.
For Screen Daily, Wendy Ide reviewed: “Beyond The Clouds is a melodrama set in Mumbai’s impoverished underclass. A brother who lives on the wrong side of the law and his sister, who finds herself imprisoned for attempted murder after she defends herself during a sexual assault, are the two central characters. As it gives a voice to the voiceless and makes a case for the people whose poverty denies them justice, it’s perhaps forgivable that the film labors its point a little stridently at times.”
