(Persia Digest) – In the detection dog training center near Tehran, professional trainers work with sniffer dogs who carry out a median of 100 searchers annually.
The detection dog training center in “Mohammad Shahr” of Alborz Province is 60kms from Tehran. Eleven trainers here have been instructed overseas to work with sniffer dogs. The dogs at this center near Tehran are mostly German Shepherds who are trained between the ages of three months to two years and then used for searches nationwide.
Sniffer dogs are taken to natural disaster areas, such as earthquakes, landslides, floods, avalanches, and where people have been buried under debris. In the deadly earthquake that shook Kermanshah Province in western Iran in November 2017, sniffer dogs were able to find six people alive under the debris. They also discovered 15 bodies.
Currently, Iran has 73 beautiful detection dogs who help people out in emergencies.
