(Persia Digest) – Mona Hubeh-Fekr is a young photographer who will be traveling to the 2018 World Cup in Russia as the first Iranian woman photographer.
“Anjoman-e Varzeshi Nevisan” [Sports Writers Association] has allocated a slot for women correspondents this year, whereby a woman photographer and a woman correspondent will be going to the 2018 World Cup.
Hubeh-Fekr has said: “I am happy that an Iranian woman sports photographer can experience fields that cannot be experienced in Iran. I went to the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon and was able to shoot many different games. Photography is different for women in Iran.”
She remembered the first time she had been to Tehran’s Azadi Sports Complex: “When Nasser Hejazi, the legendary Iranian goalkeeper and coach, passed away in 2011, I went to Azadi for the very first time. With no game and no spectators, I found the huge grounds fantastic and exciting – although it was a sad day. The excitement was huge. I have kept it with me throughout all the years that I have been a sports photographer. But I have learned to keep my feelings under control so it does not affect my work.”
This young photographer also talked about the quality of photography in Iran, and said: “I think we have come a long way in this field over the years and won many international awards.”
