(Persia Digest) – Tabriz, Yazd, Ahvaz, Hamedan, and Kerman have joined the ad network of Turkish Airlines. From now on, these five most spectacular Iranian cities will be screened on the IFE TV screens of all Turkish Airlines flights.
Iran’s share of spending to attract tourists is only 20 cents (c 700 tomans) per head; taking these small steps in advertising are big leaps for the country.
In an interview with ISNA News Agency, The Head of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran, Ali-Asghar Munesan, said: “Travel agencies worldwide who work with Turkish Airlines will also advertise these five cities. This is a great opportunity for the development of our country's tourism industry and the introduction of unique historical, natural, cultural, and artistic capacities of Iran to attract foreign tourists.
Research conducted by the tourism marketing department in Iran shows that an estimated two dollars is spent on attracting every tourist in European countries. This figure is between six to nine dollars in countries such as Turkey and Malaysia, and it goes up to 14 to 40 dollars in countries lesser known to tourists.
The Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran has not yet announced any major advertising campaigns for its tourism industry.
