(Persia Digest) – The Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani, has stated: “If the other five signatories to the JCPOA decide to work with us and remain committed, guaranteeing Iran’s benefits, the agreement will stay in place despite the wishes of the Zionist regime and the US.

At a joint press conference with his Sri Lankan counterpart following the signature of five MoUs, Rouhani said: “Foreign policy is based on morals, trust, and respect for international regulations. We are delighted to be able to say that Iran has remained committed to all the agreements it has signed.”

He expressed regret that the US had decided to withdraw from the JCPOA, which is an agreement endorsed by a UNSC resolution, and added: “This action by the US means trampling over ethics, politics, the right path of diplomacy, and international regulations.”

Persia Digest reports that Donald Trump withdrew the US from the 2015 JCPOA nuclear deal with Iran on Tuesday 8 May 2018 by ignoring IAEA reports certifying that Iran had remained committed to its obligations and requests by the other partners in the deal, including the EU, not to withdraw from the multilateral agreement.
