(Persia Digest) Mehrdad Oskuei has been appointed to head the Jury at the Krakow Film Festival in Poland.

Oskuei is an Iranian documentary producer and scriptwriter who will be heading the jury in the short film competition section at the Festival in Poland. Other jury members are Michael Brook and Lydia Bailey from the UK, Matteo Gariglio from Switzerland, and Mariusz Wilczynski from Poland.

Oskuei’s last movie “Starless dreams” has won various awards, including the Amnesty International Film Prize at the Berlinale, True/False Grand Prize in the US as 2016 Best Documentary Producer, and the Full Frame Inspiration Award.

In its short film competition category, the 2018 Krakow Film Festival will be screening 10 documentaries, 13 fictions, and 12 animations. The 25-minute short fiction “Ara” by Yusef Kargar from Iran has been nominated for its Golden Dragon Award. The winner will be eligible to compete in the short film category of the 2019 Oscars.

The Krakow Film Festival is one of Europe’s oldest events especially for short, documentary, and animations films. The 58th edition of the Festival will run from 27 May to 3 June 2018.
