“Rencontres du cinéma français” at TMoCA

(Persia Digest) - “Rencontres du cinéma français” will open at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art cinematheque tomorrow with six films from France and the attendance of Jean-Michel Frodon, journalist, critic, historian of cinema, and former editor-in-chief of “Cahiers du cinémas”.

The opening ceremony begins on 15 April 2018 with Ali-Mohammad Zare, TMoCA President, and French Ambassador to Tehran François Sénémaud. The opening film is “L'Enfant sauvage” (1970) by director François Truffaut. The program has been organized in association with the French Embassy, Institut Français, and the French Language Center in Tehran.

Summer Hours (French: L'Heure d'été), a 2008 French drama film directed by Olivier Assayas, will be screened on Monday 16 April at 16h30.

The French film week will continue on Tuesday 17 April with the screening of “Le Silence de la Mer” (1949) by directed by Jean-Pierre Melville at 14h30, and “Le Pays des Sourds” (1992) by Nicolas Philibert at 16h30. On Wednesday 18 April, “Picpocket” (1959) by Robert Bresson will be shown at 14h30, and “A Screaming Man” (2010) by Mahamat-Saleh Haroun at 16h30 for 92 minutes. The films are in the original French language with Persian subtitles.

Jean-Michel Frodon will be present at the Museum cinematheque on all three days and will be talking about “knowledge transfer”. This is Frodon’s third consecutive presence in cinema events at the cinematheque in Tehran.
