Tehran Symphony Orchestra performs in World Cup

(Persia Digest) – The Tehran Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Shahrdad Rohani, will travel to Russia simultaneously with the start of the 2018 World Cup.

Based on agreements made, a combination orchestra of the Tehran Symphony and National Orchestra will go on stage over three nights in cities where the Team Melli will be playing.

The first performance is on 15 June, a few hours before the first match of the Iranian football team against Morocco in St Petersburgh.

The next performance is on 17 June in the main hall of the Moscow conservatory. The last performance is on 19 June in Kazan.

The conductor will be Shahrdad Rohani in all three performances. In addition to classical pieces, two instrumental pieces will also be performed, together with the official Team Mell anthem for the World Cup, with the vocals of Salar Aghili and composition of Babak Zarrin.

Persia Digest reports that the Symphony Orchestra will also have performances on 5-6 July upon its return to Tehran at Vahdat Hall. Pieces to be performed are Piano Concerto No 2 by Sergei Rachmaninov, and Symphony No 9 by Antonín Dvořák among others.  Mitra Kutah will be the soloist in the Piano Concerto No 2 by Sergei Rachmaninov piece.
