(Persia Digest) – “Touran Khanum” [Lady Touran] is the name of a documentary produced by Rakhshan Bani-Etemad and Mojtaba Mir-Tahmasb on the life and work of the late Touran Mirhadi, the professor of pedagogy in Iran. The documentary will be ready for screening soon.
A year has passed since Touran Mirhadi’s death who spent her life giving the children of Iran a better education. She was a children’s educator and innovator in this field. She traveled to Europe to complete her higher education and returned to Iran to set up the progressive “Farhad” independent kindergarten and elementary school in Tehran, named so after a brother she lost in his mid-twenties (1955-1980). She is also the co-founder of The Children's Book Council of Iran and The Encyclopedia for Young People.
As the first anniversary of her passing approaches, the finishing touches are being put to her biopic “Touran Khanum” on her life and work. This is a joint project by Rakhshan Bani-Etemad and Mojtaba Mir-Tahmasb in the final stages of its post-production editing.
The filming began on 14 October 2012 and continued up until the last days of lady Touran’s days in the fall of 2016, recoding her personality traits as an innovative educator, author, and researcher in her fruitful life of 89 years.
Rakhshan Bani-Etemad and Mojtaba Mir-Tahmasb also have other joint productions in their portfolio, including a collection of documentaries entitled “Karestan”. This is a series of six documentaries on the life and work of Iranian entrepreneurs and innovators. Each documentary has its separate director and the collection is presently being screened in the “Art and Experience AECINEMA.ir” group of theaters.
