(Persia Digest) – A selection of World Press Photo exhibitions from 2016 and 2018 is being held at the Niavaran Cultural Center from 10 May to 1 June 2018. It has been organized with the endeavors of Iran’s Press Photographers Association, the World Press Photo Foundation, and the Dutch Embassy in Tehran.
There are 141 photos displayed at the expo on various subjects, such as nature, the environment, and daily lifestyles.
World Press Photographers representative, Lawrence Korteweg, has expressed hope that the exhibition can be the start of more frequent presence in Iran, and said: “The World Press Photo Foundation was started by a group of photographers from the Netherlands in 1955 so that press photographers can participate in competitive events. Between 70 and 80 thousand photos are submitted to every edition and we are very pleased to have the welcome of Iranian photographers.”
He continued: “These exhibitions began in 1955 in various cities every year. Simultaneously with our exhibition in Iran, we also have other events in the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, and a number of other countries.”
The Tehran exhibition showcases a selection of photos from the World Press Photo expos over the past three years (2016-2018).
