(Persia Digest) – Following a one-year ban from competing at the Greco-Roman wrestling games, the gold medalist of the 2011 Istanbul World Championships and bronze medalist of the 2016 Rio Olympics has now stepped into the world of UFC boxing.
Saeid Abdevali, experienced Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler, is facing a one-year ban by the wrestling federation’s disciplinary committee (6 months definite and 6 months suspended) following clashes at the final selection of the national team.
He has now lost his chance to participate at the Asian Games in Indonesia and the World Championships in Hungary. It seems Abdevali no longer wants to continue his career in wrestling and intends to continue in the footsteps of Amir-Ali Akbari in MMA. He has already contacted Akbari by phone to ask for his advice.
With the UFC taking off in MMA, Abdevali has begun training in the city of Babol, Mazandaran Province in norther Iran, under the supervision of Hassan Shalikar, a former boxing champion. Thus, this public athlete will fight for his success in the ring this time.
