(Persia Digest) – The Iranian FM, Javad Zarif, has written to EU Foreign Affairs Chief, Federica Mogherini, who is also the coordinator of the Iran nuclear talks the JCPOA with the world powers, to protest the latest violations of the agreement by the Trump Administration, especially the US President’s last speech on 13 October regarding the matter.
This is the 10th such letter Iran has written to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action Commission to date.
Last week, one day after Donald Trump decertified Iran’s compliance with the deal, FM Zarif announced that he would be writing a letter about Trump’s speech and his new stance on Iran shortly, in which abrogation of articles 26, 28, and 29 would be pointed out.
Iran’s top diplomat also reacted to his counterpart’s recent comments about imposing new sanctions on Iran, and said: “The people of America and the world will soon come to understand the major damages inflicted on their countries through this type of American misconceptions.”
Zarif continued: “Today, even America's closest allies are protesting the US anti-JCPOA policies and Mr Trump's efforts to continue the persecution that has exacerbated since the beginning of his administration.”
He went on to say: “Unfortunately, the Americans are refusing to change their perspective after years of misconception and accept that the country keeping peace and stability in the region and fighting terrorism is Iran.”
Zarif added: “If it was not for the sacrifices Iran has made, we would be witnessing the rule of ISIS in Damascus, Baghdad, and Erbil today.”
He concluded by saying that the resistance of the Syrian people, Iraqis, and the noble people of Iraqi Kurdistan against ISIS with the help of Iran has been the source of stability in the region and the main fight against terrorism.
