Three World Craft Cities Registered for Iran

This week will see the registration of three cities in Iran as World Craft Cities. These are Kalpurgan, Sirjan, and Marivan. Yesterday, the ceremony was held for Kalpurgan. Tomorrow Sirjan will be registered as a World Kilim City, followed by Marivan next week as a World Kalash City. The ceremonies are attended by the President of the World Crafts Council-Asia Pacific Region (WCC-APR).  

Nowruz 2018 celebrated in Tabriz

The Iranian Nowruz New Year will be celebrated as an international event simultaneously with the “Tabriz 2018” event in this city. This will introduce Iranian ceremonies and concentrate on the city of Tabriz.  

Tabriz-Jolfa free sightseeing train

The passenger transport manager for Iranian Railways has announced the inauguration of a free Tabriz-Jolfa tourist train. Mir-Hassan Mousavi said: “Following the successful startup of a number of sightseeing train routes, the Tabriz-Jolfa route will be providing free travel for tourists seven days a week from 1 December 2017 to 30 January 2018 in association with the Aras Free Zone Organization.

Deputy for the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran said: “Tabriz 2018 will open on 23 March 2018.” Mohammad Moheb-Khodaei pointed to the 20-year vision document for Iran aiming to attract 20 million tourists by 2025, and said: “We have to make the most of Tabriz 2018.”

Bahmani: I had no contact with Reza Zarrab

Mahmud Bahmani, CEO of the CBI in Ahmadinejad’s cabinet has denied Zarrab’s comments that they met at the time. In an interview with ISNA New Agency, the former CBI Chief stated that he never met the Iranian-Turkish businessman, Reza Zarrab, and added: “I don’t believe Mr Ahmadinejad met him either.”

China ready to invest in oil and petrochemicals in Iran

Iran’s Minister of Petroleum, Bijan Zangeneh, met for talks with Wang Yang Gao, Chief of China’s International Chamber of Commerce yesterday. At the meeting, Yang Gao pointed out the extensive trade ties between Iran and China, and stated: “China needs energy resources and our old friend, Iran, is rich in these resources. This can help expand ties between the two countries.”
