Official opening of Tabriz 2018 postponed

“Tabas” bears the title of Iran’s geological paradise as its third geopark proposed for Unesco World Heritage registration. “Qeshm” was the first geopark in Iran and the Middle East to be registered by Unesco in 2006. The “Aras” geopark was also proposed to Unesco for registration in 2008 and is still awaiting a decision. That said, Iran is presently preparing a third geopark file for registration.

On 21 February, Reuters reports from Washington that the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that Americans injured in a 1997 suicide bombing in Jerusalem cannot seize ancient Persian artifacts from a Chicago museum to satisfy a $71.5 million court judgment against Iran, which they had accused of complicity in the attack.
