Thirteen films will be competing at Cine Iran Toronto Film Festival. According to Farabi Cinema Foundation, the films “Runaway” directed by Alireza Davudnejad, “Subdued” by Hamid Nematollah, “No Date, No Signature” by Vanid Jalilvand, “Negar” by Rambod Javan, “Sara and Ayda” by Maziar Miri, “Blockage” by Mohsen Gharaei, “Untaken Paths” by Tahmineh Milani, “Azar” by Mohammad Hamze’ei, “Yellow” by Mostafa Taghizadeh, “Appendix” by Hossein Namazi, “Boarding Pass” by Mehdi Rahmani, “Esrafil” by Aida Panahi, and “Kupal” by Kazem Molaei will be competing at the 3rd Cine Iran Film Festival in Toronto.

Qajar lady calligraphist works published

A book of Banu Zia Saltaneh calligraphies from the Qajar era have been unveiled in Golestan Palace. This is a collection of the works by this lady talented in the arts of calligraphy, painting, poetry, music, and embroidery, and a master of her time in cursive script. Her full name was Ziaol Saltaneh Shah Begum. She was Shah Fathali’s seventh daughter. She wrote all the private letters and commands issued by the Shah. She also supervised the royal seal and signature.

Goa film festival opens with Majidi film

The feature “Beyond the Clouds” directed by Majid Majidi has been selected as the opening movie for the Goa Film Festival in India. As reported by the 48th Goa Film Festival (IFFI Goa 2017,) which will run from 20-28 November, the feature “Beyond the Clouds” directed by Majid Majidi will open the Festival.
