Mahdi Taremi joined Qatar’s Al-Gharafa FC

Mahdi Taremi 25, former striker of Persepolis FC in Tehran, joined Qatar Stars League Club, Al-Gharafa. This member of Iran’s national football team since 2015 who had been the top scorer of Iran Premier Football League in two successive seasons, was suspended for four months previously for signing a contract with Rizespor FC of Turkey and later leaving that team; this also brought about a cash fine for Persepolis FC. He has now, finally, joined the Al-Gharafa FC of Qatar.

Other countries in the Gulf offered hotel rooms and training facilities. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) said it would even host matches. Iran’s National Futsal Team player is on Futsal Planet’s list of top ten best players. In 2017, Hossein Tayebi and Kazakhstan Kairat Team reached the championship league, elimination tournament, and super cup of Kazakhstan. In the UEFA Champions League, he stood third with the Kairat Team, and in the AFC Champions League he was one of the reserves who was substituted for Thai Son Nam from Vietnam to win the bronze medal.

Iranian women officially begin biking activities

As from yesterday, women have officially begun their motorbike practices at the Azadi [Freedom] racetrack. The Azadi motocross track opened for women some months ago to take the freedom road and quench years of thirsting for thrills and excitement by performing acrobatic stunts with 10-meter high jumps. Yesterday saw the jumpstart of official motorbike practices for women at the Azadi track. Training courses will also be held here.

WorldSoccer names Iran 2nd top team

In the final hours of 2017, WorldSoccer magazine has announced its list of top teams in the world. Iran’s National Team Melli has been named as the best team in Asia and takes a shared second rank as the second best team in the world. Real Madrid tops the list with 57 votes. Iran’s national team took second place with two votes alongside Brazil, Germany, Iceland, and Monaco.

Hassan Yazdani one of three world wrestlers

The World Wrestling Federation has picked Hassan Yazdani from Iran as one of the world’s top three wrestlers in 2017. According to the Federation site, Helen Morales from the US in the female 58 kg weight class, Yasmin Adar from Turkey in the female 75 kg weight class, and Hassan Yazdani in the 86 kg men’s freestyle were chosen as the most valuable wrestlers of 2017.
