Kiarostami Foundation opens in the US
The Kiarostami Foundation has been set up by Ahmad Kiarostami in the US. Its job is to supervise and publish the cinematic and artistic works of the late Iranian filmmaker, Abbas Kiarostami. The Foundation has been established by his eldest son who is a US resident.
Khorasan next host to Louvre masterpieces

Kiarostami photos of Louvre in Tehran
A collection of photos from the Louvre Museum by late Abbas Kiarostami, entitled "Look at Me” will be displayed for the first time simultaneously with the exhibition of the Louvre Museum works at the National Museum of Iran. “When we were negotiating with Louvre officials, it was decided that works of several well-known photographers worldwide at the Louvre to be displayed in Iran; the French also mentioned that a well-known Iranian artist had taken good photos of the Louvre, namely Abbas Kiarostami. We talked with Ahmad and Bahman Kiarostami for the final selection of works and determined the location of this exhibition”, Nokandeh told IRNA.
Abbas Kiarostami honored in Brussels
The late Iranian director, Abbas Kiarostami, will be honored in Brussels with the screening of two of his films. The movies “24 Frames” and “Take me home” by the late Kiarostami will be screened here together with “76 Hours and 15 seconds with Abbas Kiarostami” by Seifollah Samadian on 16 and 25 January at the Center for Fine Arts in Brussels, Belgium.
Six Iranian films at 41st Gutenberg Festival
The 41st Gutenberg International Film Festival in Sweden is Scandinavia’s biggest movie event. This year, it is screening six films from Iran. The feature film “Esrafil” directed by Aida Panahandeh from Iran is in the Competitions category of the Gutenberg Festival. It is competing with 19 other films for the Best Picture Dragon Award.
Iranian film festival begins in Seoul
The 55th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Iran and S Korea was celebrated by selecting 2017 as the year of cultural exchanges between the two countries. The ceremonies opened on Friday 15 December 2017 with an Iranian film festival.
Kiarostami poetry album published
(Persia Digest) – Abbas Kiarostami was not only a great film producer, but he was also an adept photographer of nature and a capable encapsulating poet. An album of his poems accompanied by music has now been released, entitled “Escaping boredom” produced by Farshad Khoshnoud.
Asia Pacific special award for Mohammadzadeh
The Asia Pacific 2017 awards wrapped up with a prominent presence by the Iranian cinema. The Lifetime Achievements posthumous award was given to the late Abbas Kiarostami, and the Special Jury Award was given to Navid Mohammadzadeh for starring in “No Date, No Signature”.
77th International Prize for Kiarostami
One year after his passing, Abbas Kiarostami has been given the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 11th Asian-Pacific Screen Awards.
This is the seventy-seventh international award for this famous Iranian director, coinciding with his seventy-seventh birthday.
Posthumous APSA for Abbas Kiarostami
For the first time in the history of the 11th Asia Pacific Film Awards, a Posthumous Award will honor the achievements of the prominent Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami for his remarkable vision and the Academy will also confer a posthumous Academy membership on him.
