FIFA support for Iranian women going to stadiums
Some of the fans at the Iran-Morocco match in the 2018 World Cup carried placards asking for the right of Iranian women to watch football games in stadiums. This move was initially declared to be political by the St Petersburgh stadium officials. But, FIFA announced that the placards carried a social message, not a political one, and allowed fans to take them inside the stadium.
