(Persia Digest) - The music group “Lian” in their recent performances with music groups from other countries are trying to offer modernist renditions. This folklore music group from the city of Bushehr in southwest Iran on the Persian Gulf coast will be performing on stage on the third day of this year’s edition of Fajr International Music Festival with a contrapuntal rendition of “China Drama House” music piece. In February, this music group will have two performances in England and Scotland accompanied with a native Scottish music instrument, the bagpipes.
On Friday, January 12, at the 33rd Fajr International Festival the “Lian” group concert and “China Drama House” led by Mohsen Sharifian will be on stage at 21:30 hours in Niyavaran Cultural Center.
However, the international tour of Mohsen Sharifian will begin after the festival. In the next few weeks, Sharifian accompanied with vocalists Hamid Akbari and Aklo Faramarzi is heading toward the International “Celtic Connections” Festival in Scotland. The “Lian” music group from the city of Bushehr and three Scottish musicians, David Shedden, Graham McKenzie and Pablo Lafuente will perform on February 3, 2018 at the “Royal Concert Hall” in the city of Glasgow in Scotland on the final and most important day of the Festival at the closing ceremonies.
Sharifian, who recently published the book “Training for playing the Bagpipes”, will perform a concert in London on January 26. This program has been organized through the invitation of Iran Art Research Center and part of its revenues will be spent on the victims of Kermanshah Earthquake.
