Carpet Museum of Iran: A tourist attraction

(Persia Digest) – The Carpet Museum of Iran is a rather beautiful, interesting tourist site in Iran always attracting large numbers of visitors. From the start of the Iranian New Year on 21 March 2017, the Museum has had 10500 visitors, of which 6500 were from overseas.

Museum President, Parisa Beizaei, has said: “Last year, 9000 people visited this expert carpet museum, of which 4000 were foreign tourists. But, we have already had 6500 visitors from abroad in the first nine months of this year.”

She added: “We keep 2000 carpets at the Museum, of which 150 are showcased for the public. We also have kilims and tableau rugs from the Safavid times to date. “

She also announced that the Museum has a list of 30 carpets for registration as national heritages, and continued: “As agreed by the CEO of Tehran Cultural Heritage Organization, a list of over 300 antique works from the museums of Abguineh glassware, Reza Abbasi painting on glass, the Carpet Museum, and the National Museum of Iran is being prepared for registration.”

She went on to add: “The Carpet Museum PR Department is in touch with the Italian, Austrian, Serbian, and Armenian embassies to organize exhibitions in these countries.”
