(Persia Digest) - The First International Conference of the Research Initiative on Teaching Persian Language and Literature at Cambridge University has given a special award to Professor Houshang Moradi Kermani for over 50 years of continuous efforts in developing the Persian language and literature. Moradi Kermani is a contemporary Iranian author mostly known for his children’s books.
His titles have been translated into German, English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Arabic, Armenian, and Hindi. His first story translated into English was “Samovar” from his collection of “Stories of Majid” sent to Unicef.
“Stories of Majid” are one of his best known books which has also been turned into a very popular feature film and TV series.
Moradi Kermani is a multiple award winner, including the Hans Christian Andersen Award 1986, Austria Children’s Book Award 1994, 12th Fajr Festival Simorgh Bolurin Best Screenplay 1994, and Costa Rica’s Jose Martini Best Author Award 1995.
Houshang Moradi Kermani has been honored as a famous personality of Iran and he is a permanent member of the Persian Language and Literature Academy.
