(Persia Digest) – An encouraging piece of news these days, ahead of the Tehran Int’l Book Fair, is the issuing of a long-awaited license for the publication of a novel by renowned Iranian author, Mahmoud Dowlatabadi, about the war. After ten years of waiting in the ranks, his book will now be on display at the Book Fair in the capital.
A number of his other novels, including “The Colonel”, have been waiting for a license to be published for an indefinite period of time. Although “The Colonel” has been translated and published in a number of languages, this has not yet received permission to be published in Iran.
The author told IRNA News Agency: “The novel “Thirst” narrates a period of the war between 2004 and 2006. From a year later, it was on the list of receiving a license for publication; this has now materialized after a decade.”
He explained further that the book is about the viewpoints of two authors from the two sides of the war.
The 31st Tehran International Book Fair will run from 2-12 May 2018 in Tehran, aiming to promote book reading.
