EU’s new request to reopen office in Tehran

(Persia Digest) – The Head of Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament has announced a new request by the EU reopen their office in Tehran.

Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh said that a meeting with 26 EU ambassadors took place in Tehran recently, adding: “At the meeting, the Austrian Ambassador whose country holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, as well as some ambassadors from other European countries, called for the reopening of the EU office in Tehran.”

The MP pointed out to a previous request, saying: “There are some considerations that must be taken into account. We have transferred our existing security concerns to the ambassadors of the European countries; these must be resolved in the form of an additional protocol.”

Falahatpisheh reiterated: “It was decided at the meeting to forward the request of EU ambassadors to the Foreign Office, and this has not taken place.
