(Persia Digest) – Iran exported some 345 million dollars of saffron last year (March 21, 2018-March 21, 2019) and the figure is estimated to reach 30 percent in the current Iranian calendar year (1398) due to good rainfall and increased areas under saffron cultivation.
According to Persia Digest (PD), saffron also known as the Red Gold of Iran, is a major export item of the country. The deputy chairman of Iran’s National Saffron Council has said some 251 tons of saffron have been exported from the Razavi Khorasan Province to the value of USD 345 million in the last Iranian calendar year (1397). This figure is about 14 percent higher than saffron exports from the Razavi Khorasan Province in the previous year (1396).
