Famous Iranian vocalist sings to raise money for flood victims

(Persia Digest) – Famous Iranian vocalist, Shahram Nazeri, will be holding a concert on 30 April to raise money for the victims of the recent deadly floods in Iran.

He stated that the concert is being staged in association with the music center of Sharif University of Technology on campus. All proceeds will go to the flood-stricken people of Lorestan, Khuzestan, and Golestan.

Nazeri added: “The proceeds will be credited to an account I can use. It will subsequently be placed at the disposal of a group of students to be spent in-situ in the flooded regions. We may purchase the necessary items in Tehran and dispatch them to these areas.”

Many years ago, Nazeri had staged another concert with Loris Tjeknovarian at the Royal Albert Hall in London for the victims of the earthquake in Bam, southern Iran.

Shahram Nazeri is a renowned Iranian musician and vocalist. In 2007, he received the chevalier medal for “Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” from the French government and is known as the “Chevalier of Iranian music”. He has also been named a “Living Legend” by UCLA. Nazeri has been a pioneer in performing the poems of Molavi. His “Passion of Rumi” album was nominated for the 2007 Grammy Awards in the US.
