(Persia Digest) – Fifteen cooperation agreements have been signed by high-ranking officials in the presence of Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani, and Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, between the two countries.
These include agreements on the avoidance of double taxation, waving visas for politicians, MoUs in agriculture, anti-dumping, interim management agreement for the first phase of constructing the first port in Chabahar, agreement to cooperate between the Post Office of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Indian Post Office, a cooperation agreement between the Women's Affairs Department of the Iranian Presidency and the Ministry of Women's Affairs of India, an extradition treaty for offenders (consular affairs), judicial assistance in civil and commercial matters, healthcare cooperation between the two ministries of health, and an MoU in the field of traditional medicine between Iran’s Ministry of Health and India’s Ministry of Ayoush.
Other agreements include issuing e-visas, and agreements between Iran’s Chamber of Commerce and FICCI, Iran’s Chamber of Commerce and Asshocham, and another one with phd.chamber.
A joint stamp of the Islamic Republic of Iran and India was also unveiled on the sidelines of the ceremonies.
The Iranian President landed in India on Thursday, 15 February 2018, for a 3-day visit. Two days were spent in Hyderabad, and he arrived in New Delhi on Friday night. He was formally welcomed by Narendra Modi on Saturday morning.
