Inflation of 5% to 230% for foodstuffs in Iran

(Persia Digest) – Official statistics show a rise of 5-230 percent in inflation for foodstuffs in Iran in January this year.

Based on the figures published by Iran’s statistics center tomato paste saw the highest rise of 231.1 percent YOY, followed by golden delicious apples (128%), tomatoes (127.9%), bananas (103.1%), and mutton (97.8%).

Based on the report, the most price rises for vegetables in January pertained to onions (22.1%), cucumbers (21.3%), tomatoes (20.1%), and mutton (15.6%). During the same period, egg prices dropped by 5.7%, grade one imported rice by 2.3%, and lentils by1.5%.
