(Persia Digest) - The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Armenia signed four cooperation documents, including a document for a joint economic commission, two documents on customs cooperation, and a sports document, at the closing ceremony of the fifteenth session of the Iran-Armenia Joint Cooperation Commission.
During this session, issues such as accelerating the completion of the third power line transmission of Iran and Armenia as the centerpiece of the quadruple north-south energy corridor between Iran, Armenia, Georgia and Russia, and the establishment of a framework for quarterly electricity and energy exchanges between the two countries and the region were considered.
In this regard, Iran's Minister of Energy Reza Ardakanian met with Ashot Manukyan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia. “The third power line transmission to Armenia will be put into operation before the end of 2019,” he said at the meeting. “Iran expects to continue the third power line from Armenia to Georgia, and the Armenian side is expected to fully facilitate the participation of Iranian companies for the implementation of this line,” he added.
The participation of Iranian companies in the power plant projects of Armenia, the study of Aras River environmental issues, and the development of trade, transport and customs exchanges were among other issues discussed at the fifteenth session.
