(Persia Digest) – Iran’s youth free wrestling team has won three gold, one silver, and three bronze medals in Croatia to take the championship with 152 points.
The competitions took place 2-4 July 2018 in Zagreb. The three gold medal winners for Iran were Rahman Amouzad-Kallili, Alireza Abdollahi, and Amir-Hossein Zar’e in the 45kgs, 92kgs, and 110kgs categories respectively, Mohammad-Reza Ghiasi with one silver in the 80kgs category, and the three bronze medal winners were Erfan Jafarian, Ali-Akbar Fazli, and Mohammad Karimi in the 51kgs, 60kgs, and 65kgs categories respectively, with 152 points. The runner ups were the USA, and Russia came in third place, with 132 and 116 points respectively.

The Iranian team had come first in Iran in 1996. This was their first championship win outside Iran after 22 years.
Iran’s youth free wrestling team went to the championships hosted by Hungary in 1995 for the first time, coming in third place.
They were the runner ups at the 2011 games in Hungary, 2014 in Slovakia, and 2015 in Croatia. They came third at the 1997 games in Slovenia, 1999 in Poland, 2012 in Baku, and 2013 in Serbia.
