Iran facilitates visas for US nationals

(Persia Digest) – The Deputy of Iran’s Tourism Organization has announced that trips by US nationals to Iran over the first seven months of the Iranian calendar year has grown by 27 percent and said discussions were taking place to facilitate issuing visas for US nationals.

Teimuri added: “There was an increase of 27 percent, or 1665 US nationals, visiting Iran YOY. In November alone, 214 US tourists came to Iran to bring their total number to 1879 between April and November.”

He said these figures were significant in the face of growing threats and sanctions by the US since its withdrawal from the 2015 JCPOA nuclear deal, stating: “The pressures reimposed on Iran over the past months have only increased interest and the spirit of enquiry about Iran for a better understanding of our people and society.”
