(Persia Digest) – An exhibition of Iranian hand arts, including paintings and kilims, has opened in Seoul. It will run until 26 November 2017.
According to the Secretariat of the Handicrafts Organization, the opening ceremony of the exhibition entitled “Talented hands” took place in Seoul on 23 November.
One-hundred pieces of art works by Iranian artisans, including handwoven kilims, carpets, pottery, woodworks, paintings, miniatures, and other works were displayed to the public.
The ceremony was attended by Handicrafts Deputy Bahman Namvar-Motlagh, the Iranian Ambassador to Korea Hassan Taheri, and the diplomatic representative of the S Korean Foreign Ministry.
In his speech, Namvar-Mothlagh pointed out that this exhibition is only part of the potentials for the hand arts in Iran and announced the readiness of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization of Iran to stage a larger, more comprehensive exhibition of his country’s handicrafts upon agreement with his S Korean counterpart.
The Korean Foreign Office representative also spoke of ancient relations between the two countries of over a thousand years, and stressed on the importance of organizing such events in order to further awareness in both Iran and Korea about the two countries’ civilizations and expand cooperation between them via culture and diplomacy.
