(Persia Digest) – Iran’s representative at the UN has responded to US allegations against Iran and the partial evacuation of its embassy staff from Iraq.

Iran’s mission to the UN has said that recent US claims and moves, including the partial evacuation of its embassy staff in Iraq is the last of its anti-Iran propaganda before the curtain falls by using ‘fake intelligence reports’ as a pretext for the probable start of a war. The mission’s statement reads: “Iran denounced the move as “the latest escalation in the propaganda war” and suggested Washington is trying to initiate a conflict. “Iran is no threat to anybody in Iraq or elsewhere, and Iran is not preparing for any attacks anywhere. Iran, as is evidenced by our history, only acts in self-defense, and has no offensive strategy against any nation. Iranians will not capitulate to this new psychological war.”

Persia Digest (PD) reports that the US State Department issued a statement yesterday announcing that it was evacuating its non-essential staff from its embassy in Baghdad and consulate in Erbil.

Part of the statement reads: “The visa service in both centers has been suspended and the US administration can only provide limited assistance to US citizens in Iraq.”

The US State Department has ordered its staff in Iraq to leave the country asap and keep their distance from all US facilities in Iraq.
