(Persia Digest) – In response to pressures by the West to conduct talks with Iran on its missile program, the Political Deputy of Iran at the Foreign Ministry said: “The West must allow the JCPOA to succeed first before we can talk on other issues.”

As reported by Reuters, on the sidelines of the Euromoney conference, Seyed Abbas Araghchi said: “The US and its European allies must ensure the success of the JCPOA before trying to discuss other issues.”

Araghchi confirmed: “Now they ask Iran to enter discussions on other issues. Our answer is clear: Make the (deal) a successful experience and then we discuss other issues.”

He commented on regional issues, and said: “We have always fought terrorism. Iran has always played a key role in creating peace and stability in the region. The nuclear deal and our regional role are not linked. Trump’s policies towards Iran are destructive and have violated the provisions of the nuclear deal.”

As reported by Persia Digest, the Iranian President had also said at a press conference earlier that the Americans should have used the JCPOA to improve their relations with Iran. This could have opened new doors for talks on other issues. Hassan Rouhani had reiterated that the key to future Iran-US relations was in Washington and they must review their behavior.
