Persia Digest (PD) reported that Esmaeil Bakhshi, a detained worker from the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Factory, recently claimed that he was tortured by intelligence agents during his detention.

His claim has gone viral on social media in Iran and a number of MPs, including Deputy Speaker Ali Motahari, have demanded that the Intelligence Ministry be answerable.

The Head of the National Security Commission of the Iranian Parliament also said yesterday that Bakhshi’s claims will be investigated on Wednesday with the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Intelligence.
