(Persia Digest) – On 27 March 2018, World Theatre Day, Iranian director Ebrahim Poshtkuhi will be staging “Macbeth Zār” in Moscow.
The venue is the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts – GITIS founded in 1878.
“Macbeth Zār” has gone to Moscow at the invitation of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory. It is part of a project called “From red apples to the blue seas” managed by Solmaz Hematzadeh in Moscow.
As reported by “Iran Theater”, the play has been produced jointly by Russia and “Baran-e Zagross” Iranian theater group. Poshtkuhi has already taken “Macbeth Zār” on stage in the Iranian cities of Tehran, Bandar Abbas, and Shahr-e Kord. He has also staged it in Germany, Russia, Armenia, and India.
The play was shown during the 35th Fajr International Festival, in the cities of Yazd and Amol, where it met with a great audience.
The actors are Mohammad Sayebani, Davoud Eslami, Behrouz Abbasi, Hossein Asili, Behnam Panizeh, Elham Eskandari, Sara Shahi, and Behrang Abbaspur. The synopsis reads that Macbeth kills Dunken Babay Bozorg- Zār on Hormuz Island to ascend to the throne.
