Newest destroyer joins Iranian navy

(Persia Digest) –Sahand destroyer has joined the Iranian navy.

The Commander of Iran’s navy installations and factories has said: “Sahand has been manufactured by the engineers of the Iranian navy and is its most advanced destroyer. It weighs 1300 tons, with a length of 96 meters and speeds of over 25 nautical miles.”

Rear Admiral Alireza Sheikhi added: “The Sahand destroyer can carry surface, underwater, and air missiles and jam and deceit enemy radars.”

He continued: “The destroyer is able to sail for 150 days along with supporting vessels in distant oceans and high turbulent waters.”

He went on to say: “Its features include anti-radar systems, anti-submarine systems, surface-to-surface missiles, surface-to-air missiles, point defense weapon systems, and anti-surface and anti-aircraft guns.”

Persia Digest(PD) reports that two Ghadir submarines were also launched by the Iranian navy on Thursday. These have the most modern military equipment and technology in the world.
