ABOARD THE UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF STATE’S AIRPLANE TO KUWAIT — The United States’ attempts to isolate Iran, including by punishing Iraqi militias and politicians who are supported by Iranian officials, has deepened tensions not only between Washington and Baghdad but also within the Trump administration.

Christie’s has been auctioning works for some Iranian artists for a number of years now. A sociologist in Iran believes: “State domination on the public sphere and preventing interactions between individuals has deprived Iranian society of public rejoicing. With emphasis by government on the sad side of religion, the opportunity to strengthen the collective spirit through religion has also been eliminated.”
