Rouhani inaugurates three major projects

(Persia Digest) – Today, the Iranian President inaugurated three major economic projects, including Marjan Petrochemicals Methanol Production, Phase I of Damavand Petrochemicals Plant, and Phase III of Pardis Petrochemicals in Asaluyeh, Bushehr Province.

Marjan Petrochemicals has the capacity to produce 1MM and 650 thousand tons of methanol annually.

Phase I of Damavand Petrochemicals Plant has 12 turbines and steam units with the capacity to produce 650MW electricity.

Phase III of Pardis Petrochemicals has the capacity to produce 1MM and 755 thousand tons of ammonia and urea per year, making the complex the largest of its kind in the world, with the capacity to produce 5MM and 265 thousand tons of ammonia and urea (Phases I, II, III) per year.

The Iranian Minister of Petroleum, Bijan Namdar Zangeneh, spoke on the sidelines of the Asaluyeh opening ceremony, saying: “Over USD 5BN has been invested in the three projects inaugurated today. Their production value is USD 4.5BN.”

He reiterated: “Iran’s ethane production was over 3.98MM tons in 2013. This figure reached 6.11MM tons in 2017; we forecast an 8MM-ton output for 2018, a 12.75MM-ton output for 2019, and a 17.6MM-ton output for 2020.

The Iranian President also spoke at the opening ceremony: “The opening of three projects in one day, when our enemies are imposing cruel sanctions on Iran, shows our country's victory over the enemy's plans.”

He emphasized: “Today is a day of economic and psychological warfare against the Iranian nation”, adding: “Oil, gas, and petrochemicals are at the forefront of this battle.”
