(Persia Digest) – The Russian Ambassador to Lebanon has said that this is not a good time for the Lebanon Hezbollah and Iran to leave Syria under the circumstances and they will not do so at this time, because the process of eliminating terrorism has not yet been completed.
The Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, stated: “At this stage, focus has been placed on creating doubt and trouble between the axis of resistance in Syria and Russia. But this is redundant in our view, because the relations between the two in Syria is based on cooperation.”
He described the presence of American forces in Syria as one of the main obstacles and complexities in the country and the failure to reach a solution here.
He reiterated: “Russia agrees that the Syrian army must have control over all its borders and things must move ahead step by step.”

As reported by Persia Digest, at a press conference held yesterday on Russia's position on Iran's presence in Syria, speaker of the Foreign Ministry, Bharam Ghassemi, said: “Nothing has changed. Russia’s position towards Iran and Syria is clear. Talks between the two countries on bilateral relations and the Astana Summit are progressing smoothly.”
Ghassemi stated that Iran’s presence in Syria is at the official request of the Syrian government: “Our aim is to fight terrorism. Gains have been made with Iran’s efforts. We discussed what the media had reported with the Russians and this was not confirmed in talks between Tehran and Moscow.”
Persia Digest reported that certain media reports over the past few weeks indicated that some officials in Russia had asked for Iran to leave Syria.
