(Persia Digest) – Puppeteer, Adel Bozdudeh, is keeping busy these days by designing and making mascots for top Iranian football teams – Persepolis, Esteghlal, and Tractorsazi.

He told Mehr News Agency: “These mascots are designed after the larger Persian cats who are on the brink of extinction, called “Karal”. These will be ready for the teams to use as mascots within the next couple of days.”

Bozdudeh is also a scriptwriter and director who has made the puppets of children’s TV programs, such as “Kolah Ghermezi” [Little red cap], “Shahr-e Mush ha” [City of mice], “Zizi Gulu”, and “Khuneh-ye madarbozorg” [Granma’s house]. To the question of whether he would be making a mascot for Team Melli, he answered: “The National Football Team (Team Melli) have not yet asked for a mascot. But if they do, I will make the Iranian Cheetah for them which is an endangered species.”
