(Persia Digest) – Iran’s top diplomat has criticized the Polish Government for hosting an anti-Iranian conference staged by the US.
Javad Zarif tweeted: “Reminder to host/participants of anti-Iran conference: those who attended last US anti-Iran show are either dead, disgraced, or marginalized. And Iran is stronger than ever. Polish Govt can't wash the shame: while Iran saved Poles in WWII, it now hosts desperate anti-Iran circus.”

Persia Digest (PD) reports that Zarif posted four photos with his tweet. The first one shows former US President Bill Clinton with the late Israeli leader Shimon Peres, the late King Hussein of Jordan, the deposed Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak, and former Russian President Boris Yeltsin.
The others show Iranians sheltering Poles during WWII. One is captioned: “In January 1943, this camp in Isfahan took in 2457 Polish civilians, of whom 2043 were children.”
One image is of part of an information analysis document indicating the number of Polish refugees in Iran in 1943. The caption shows that the document was prepared by a military attaché at the British Embassy in Tehran between 21 to 26 January 1943.
The fourth photo pertains to the visit by a Polish delegation to the Polish cemetery in Mashhad in February 2015.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi, political deputy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, also responded to the anti-Iranian act by Poland by tweeting: “From 1942 to date, 1892 Poles have been resting at the Polish cemetery in the heart of Tehran. Over 100 thousand Poles returned home via Iran after freedom from Stalin’s labor camps. Iranian laws allow cemeteries to be replaced after 30 years. But the people of Tehran have revered their guests for 77 years now.”
