(Persia Digest) – Qatar’s Defense Minister who is presently in the US has invited its officials to conduct serious talks with Iran.
Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah stated: “US officials must show more willingness with respect to Iran and move towards serious dialogue. Otherwise, the region will face a disaster.”
He also added that his country is unsure of the accuracy of any information provided by countries sanctioning Qatar about Iran.
The Defense Minister pointed out to the crisis between his country and Saudi allies and said the US President is the only person who can resolve this with just one phone call.
Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt have accused Qatar of supporting terrorism and cut diplomatic ties with this country.
Qatar’s Defense Minister has called the actions of the said four countries “childish” and said it puts regional security in jeopardy and must stop.
Qatar has been blockaded by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain over the past few months and has only been able to access the rest of the world through Iran’s air space.
