(Persia Digest) – The anniversary of the Iranian 1979 Revolution has been celebrated across Iran on 11 February with a large turnout as in previous years.
The “Fajr” celebrations take place every year in Iran from 1-11 February. The leader of the revolution, Imam Khomeini returned to Iran on 1 February, putting an end to the Pahlavi Dynasty and rule of monarchy in Iran with a declaration of impartiality by the Imperial Army on 11 February 1979.
February 11 is the last of ten days of celebrations and an official holiday in the country. Pro-government marches are held on this day in all Iranian cities. This year marks the 39th anniversary of the revolution.
