(Persia Digest) – The Hotel Association of Turkey has announced that an estimated 2.5 million Iranians traveled to Turkey in 2017, spending an average of six nights in this country and spending USD 1000 per head.
This makes Turkey the first destination for Iranian tourists, generating over USD 2.5BN in revenue for Turkey.
The number of Iranian tourists visiting Turkey in the current year, especially during the Iranian Nowruz New Year in March, is expected to see a significant rise. This figure stood at 1.7 million Iranian tourists in 2016.
The most popular tourist destinations for Iranians are Istanbul, Van in the east, and Antalya in the south. Iranian nationals travel to Turkey on holiday and business.
Next to Turkey, Iraq, the UAE, and Armenia were among top holiday destinations for Iranians.
