(Persia Digest) – “Picture of the Year” is celebrated in the last month of the Iranian calendar every year (Feb/March) in the various categories of photography, caricature, short and long films, and posters.
This year, it is celebrating its 15th edition from 21 February to 11 March 2018. Galleries at the Artists Forum in Tehran are hosting the “Picture of the Year” contest, and the “Shahnaz” and “Naser” halls at the Forum are screening digital images.
The categories include “Another look”, “Art and artists”, “Sports photography”, and “Social documentaries”.
The poster and caricature contest is held in the “Momayez Gallery” of the Forum. Designs have been submitted by invitation and through free participation by artists under 25. The “Nami Gallery” is displaying photos of group trips by photographers to the deprived areas of Iran.
The collection of “Our Iran” photographs are displayed on LCD monitors. As announced by the event Secretariat, the collection of photographs is shown with an original soundtrack composed by Fardin Khalatbari.
The “Mobile photography” category will open on Friday 23 February.
The film images category will open with the screening of “The little rusty brains” by Houman Seyyedi, winner of the Crystal Simorgh Audience Award and the Best Art and Experience Award at the 36th Fajr International Film Festival.
This year’s edition of Picture of the Year will also introduce one outstanding artist who has had an undeniable role in expanding the visual culture of Iran.
