(Persia Digest) - The commemorative week for the eightieth anniversary of the establishment of the National Library of Iran begins today. Gloria Pérez-Salmerón, president of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), has accepted the invitation of the National Library of Iran, to attend the anniversary’s special program.

Muzaffar Pasdar-Shirazi, Secretary of the program, announced the news: “This is the first time that Gloria Pérez-Salmerón, the president of IFLA, visits Iran and the National Library. Therefore, the National Library of Iran has planned special programs for this occasion.”

Expert meetings on librarianship, signing a cooperation agreement, and special visits to expert centers of libraries and archives in Iran are on the agenda that has been planned for the IFLA President’s visit to Tehran.

The commemorative week for the eightieth anniversary of the establishment of the National Library of Iran begins today 24 February and will end 2 March. The program will unveil a new collection of manuscripts purchased by the National Library of Iran, commemorative stamps for this occasion, and a series of newly published books on the occasion of the eightieth anniversary of the establishment of the National Library.
