(Persia Digest) – During the Iranian New Year Nowruz holidays on the spring equinox this year (21 March 2018), an exhibition of Qajar artworks will open in France titled “The rose empire– masterpieces of 19th-century art in Iran”. The French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, is also traveling to Tehran next week, 5 March, to open an exhibition of artifacts brought over from the Louvre Museum to the National Museum of Iran.
The French Embassy in Tehran has announced that Le Drian will be in the capital of Iran Monday next week.
FM Le Drian will inaugurate the exhibition in Tehran titled “The Louvre in Tehran - Treasures from France's national collections”. This will run at the National Museum of Iran until early June. The French Embassy has announced that over fifty pieces of artwork and artifacts have been brought over to Iran from France.
The MoU for the exhibition was signed between the Louvre and Iran’s Cultural Heritage Organization during a trip by President Rouhani to France. Concurrently with the Louvre in Tehran exhibition, artworks from the Qajar era will also be showcased in France during the first few days of the Iranian New Year’s celebrations titled “The rose empire– masterpieces of 19th-century art in Iran”.
