(Persia Digest) – The second women’s polo games for Tehran Province was held at the Farahabad Sports Centre for sportswomen on 9 March to honor women’s day.
Two teams competed in the “Mange” field at Farahabad in Tehran. The game was held for the first time specifically for women athletes.
The two teams of “Nowruz-Abad” and “Ghassr-e Firuzeh” faced one another at the games. At the end of the fourth chukka 7-minute games, “Ghassr-e Firuzeh” team won 13-4.
Head of the Tehran Province polo delegation, Mohammad-Reza Shapuri, said: “A task for the delegation is to empower the youth, especially girls. “Ghassr-e Firuzeh” team members at the games were Mehrnaz Ghiasvand, Saeideh Sadeghi, Hadiseh Soltani, and Bahar Jasb. The “Nowruz-Abad” team members were Maryam Torabi, Atieh Abkhazar, Bahareh Khaligh, and Sara Tajik.
Currently, over 150 athletes are participating in polo games in the three sports centers of “Chogan Niru Zamini”, “Ghassr-e Firuzeh”, and “Nowruz-Abad” in Tehran.
