(Persia Digest) – The Iranian Football Federation has announced the names of the two vocalists who will be performing the National Football Team’s anthem at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
This is the fifth time Iran’s Team Melli has ascended to the World Cup, prompting the Federation authorities to arrange a special anthem for them in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. The initial shortlist of vocalists included well-known names, such as Salar Aghili, Homayhoun Shajarian, Alireza Ghorbani, Mohammad Motamedi, and Hamed Homayoun. Aghili and Ghorbani were eventually selected.
The anthem will be sung by the above two vocalists. The lyrics, music, and arrangement will be taken care of by the National Music Center of Iran, the Tehran Symphony Orchestra, and the National Orchestra.
Persia Digest reports that Salar Aghili and Homayoun Shajarian were the initial choice of vocalists for the Team Melli anthem. The news was subsequently refuted by Shajarian.
